5th & 6th Class
Welcome to our Blog!
We are very proud of the children from 5th and 6th class who took part in the recent Credit Union Quiz in The Ferrycarrig Hotel. They represented our school very well and had lots of fun on the night. Well done all!
Over the last few weeks we were delighted to be problem solving using Izak 9 which we found frustrating, challenging and great fun in equal measure! The timing was great since our Maths Week was cut short due to Ophelia a few weeks ago. Nevertheless we did really well in Maths Week with lots of people being awarded medals by Manga High.
We also began preparation for our Confirmation in earnest this week. We all received our Confirmation booklets called “My Confirmation Day” which will serve as a lovely keepsake of our special day as well as a log of our learning, experiences and memories over the course of the year.
Now that we are back to school a few weeks it feels like the summer holidays were ages ago. We have settled back in and have been doing loads of great work already.
In the first few days, we decided upon our key aims for keeping our classroom safe and happy. We had a brainstorming session to agree and finalise our Class Charter which we have all signed up to now and which is proudly displayed in our classroom.
We have been working on some ideas for assembly which we are leading for the month of September. We are aiming to put across the theme of “Respect” through the mediums of dance, song, gymnastics, rap and drama. We are enjoying this immensely and would love to spend all day practising if we were let!
However, as there is lots of other serious work to be done, we are learning how to improve our work to the best of our ability. To this end, we are learning how to self-assess and to effectively carry out peer assessment. As part of this process we are learning how to congratulate ourselves on completing good work.
