Energy Show
Gavin Harte visited our school on the 23rd of November with his ‘Energy Show’. It was an extremely worthwhile experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed ‘creating’ energy and learning how to conserve energy in a most meaningful and unforgettable way. The children will certainly be more aware of energy and how to conserve it in the future.
Water Speakers
A very big thank you to Mya Cogley who donated a beautiful set of water speakers to our school, for use in our sensory room. We are going to have so much fun with them!
Halloween Sponsored Walk
We recently held a Sponsored Walk around our village. It was a huge success and everyone enjoyed it so much! We all dressed up in our Halloween costumes and this made our walk even more interesting. A massive well done to all of the boys and girls on how safely they walked around the village and how well the older children looked after their ‘walking buddies’. The walk raised a massive 1830 euro and this money will be put to very good use in our school. Well done to all who took part and a very big thank you to everyone who supported our walk and sponsored the children.
Maths Week
We had a fantastic week filled with lots of maths challenges and fun to celebrate Maths Week recently. Ms. Hilliard organised some great challenges and games for us and everyone got involved. Even the teachers completed the challenge. We definitely saw this week that maths sure can be fun!
05/10/2017 World Teachers’ Day
This week the teachers were treated to a wonderful surprise after big break on Thursday. To celebrate World Teachers’ Day, Ms. Hilliard and the fifth and sixth class children helped all of the other classes to make a basket for each teacher, containing beautiful gifts. All of the teachers were so surprised and thankful.
29/09/2017 Assembly
Our word of the month for September was ‘Respect’. We respect ourselves, others and we have respect for learning. Fifth and Sixth class won our word of the month competition by being very respectful.
14/09/2017 Our Playground
Check out our new playground equipment. Thank you to Richard Ormonde for providing tyres and covers for our sand areas. We are looking for more playground equipment to add to our playground such as play houses, small slides and sand trays. If you know of anyone who may have such suitable equipment that they no longer need, please let us know.
11/09/2017 Junior Infant Children
A very big welcome to the new children who have joined us in junior infants. They have all settled in very well. Well done to all. May you all have many happy years with us here in St. Margaret’s.
