Halloween Fun 2015

There was great fun and excitement on the Friday before the Halloween break when all the children got dressed up.

National Flag

In November 2015 Sergeant David Malone and Private Ian McNeill from the National Defence Force visited the school to present the National Flag and a copy of the Proclamation to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Proclamation Day

It was a memorable day in Curracloe N.S. on Proclamation Day, Tuesday 15th March 2016.  Past pupil Captain Michael Kingston joined the pupils, staff and a large representation of parents in the celebrations.  Captain Kingston was presented with the National Flag by 2nd class pupil, Eddie Hore-Meagher, a descendant of the great Thomas Francis Meagher.

Michael spoke about 1916 and the importance of our National Flag.  He was joined in the reading of the Proclamation by Keelan Angood and Tom Garry.  The flag was raised and everyone joined the children in the singing of the National Anthem. Michael remained in the school for the duration of the school day where he visited all the children in their class rooms and happily  answered all their questions.

The Principal and staff of St. Margaret’s N.S. would like to sincerely thank Michael for volunteering to be involved on this commemorative day.  His presence and input certainly added to the occasion.  We wish him all the best in his future career with Irish Defense Force.

The Student Council, which was set up this year has proved to be a great success.  Their endeavours included providing 4 picnic benches for the school yard, class ‘hoodies’ for 6th Class, raising money for Curracloe Tidy Village and setting up a schools stationery shop. The student council presented representative from Curracloe Tidy Village, Anne Carty and Francis Tobin, with a cheque for €189.  The profits from the shop will be used to purchase sports equipment for the school.
